Birth to Three Educator

Richland County is seeking a part-time Birth to Three Educator to evaluate and assess children from birth to three (3) years of age in determining program eligibility and ongoing developmental progress. This position will be contracted through the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (SWWDB).

This 20-hour per week position will earn approximately $20.50 per hour.

A degree in special education, early childhood education, or a related field is required. Prior positive experience working with children is preferred. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation are also required.

Purpose of Position

Under the direction of the CLTS and Birth to Three Supervisor, this part-time position will evaluate and assess children from birth to 3 years of age using norm referenced tools to assist in determining program eligibility and ongoing developmental progress. This position will provide service facilitation/case management to ongoing Birth to Three cases as designated.

Essential Duties

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Be familiar and competent with child development.
  • Have knowledge of varying disabilities and how these can impact child development.
  • Be familiar and competent with developmental assessment/evaluation tools.
  • Be comfortable working with children and families in their home environment.
  • Able to adjust schedule to include evening and weekend work, where reasonable to the needs of individual families.
  • Knows the mandated child reporting laws and communicates suspected child abuse/ neglect information at the earliest opportunity to on-call services and/or supervisors.
  • Must be able to participate in a team workplace environment and work well with others.
  • Must perform duties and responsibilities in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Must comply with all pertinent policies and procedures of Richland County Health and Human Services.

Minimum Training and Experience

  • A degree in special education, early childhood education, or a related field is required.
  • Prior positive experience working with children is preferred.
  • Licensed through department of public instruction with a degree in special education, early childhood education, or related field.
  • Prior positive experience working with children.
  • Working knowledge of computers, computer programs, typing, and data entry.
  • Current WI driver’s license, proof of insurance, and unlimited access to reliable transportation.
