Richland County Family Preservation Worker
Richland County is seeking a Family Preservation Worker to provide assistance to children and their families while being served by the Children’s Services Unit of Richland County Health & Human Services. This position will be contracted through the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (SWWDB).
This full-time position will start between $16.00 and $18.00 per hour.
An Associate degree in Human Service or related field or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities is preferred. Prior positive experience working with children is also preferred. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation are required as is the ability to operate a computer.

Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to children and their families while being served by the Children’s Services Unit of Richland County Health & Human Services.
Essential Duties:
The following duties are anticipated for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Provides individual training to parents, with the goal that parents will be able to use positive techniques for managing their children’s behavior.
- Coordinates services under the direction of Child Protective Services staff.
- Assists Child Protective Services staff in caring out voluntary child welfare services.
- Advocates appropriately for the children and families being served.
- Facilitates safe and appropriate interaction between parents and their children through supervised visitation, as directed by Child Protective Services, using both the visit coaching model and the local supervised visiting guidelines.
- Participates in family team meetings, permanency roundtables, and CANS assessments as part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team surrounding a child.
- Provides transportation for children and families where it is appropriate in order to facilitate engagement in services and the trip is not Medicaid reimbursable.
- Maintains client records according to local, State and Federal policies.
- Able to adjust schedule to include evening and weekend work, where reasonable to the needs of individual families.
- Knows the mandated child reporting laws and communicates suspected child abuse/ neglect information at the earliest opportunity to on-call services and/or supervisors.
- Represents Richland County Health and Human Services to the community at large through professional interaction, clinical consultation, public speaking, media presentations, and participation in community advisory groups as requested.
- Comply with applicable federal and state laws, administrative rules, established agency procedures and accepted professional standards.
- Participates in on-going training, maintaining contemporary knowledge to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintains the confidentiality of client information and protected health information as required by State and Federal regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) Act of 1996.
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Associate degree in Human Service or related field or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Prior positive experience working with children.
- Working knowledge of computers, computer programs, typing, and data entry.
- Current WI driver’s license, proof of insurance and unlimited access to reliable transportation.
