Richland County LTE Custodian/Janitor

Richland County is seeking a Limited Term Employee (LTE) Custodian/Janitor that will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Community Services Building. This position would also work with other Courthouse and/or Community Services Building maintenance and cleaning personnel as needed. This position will be contracted through the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (SWWDB).

This 28-35 hour per week position will earn between $15.00 and $15.60 per hour based upon skill level. Flexible work hours are available.

A high school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training, or any combination and experience that provide knowledge, skills and abilities are preferred. The ability to comfortably lift and carry up to 50 lbs. is required. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and unlimited access to reliable transportation are also required.

Purpose of Position:
Under the direction of the Administration & Building Operations Manager, this Custodian/Janitor position would be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Community Services Building. This position would also work with other Courthouse and/or Community Services Building maintenance and cleaning personnel as needed.

Essential Duties:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

MONDAY-FRIDAY

  • Exterior Building
    • Clean and maintain the appearance and safety of the exterior parking lot.
  • Restroom Cleaning
    • 3 women’s toilets with 2 stalls and 2 sinks.
    • 2 men’s toilet with 1 stall, 1 urinal, and 1 sink.
    • 1 unisex toilet with 1 stall, 1 urinal and 1 sink.
    • 1 unisex toilet and sink.
  • Clean toilets, sinks, and urinals inside and out. Clean mirrors, fill dispensers, and empty garbage/recyclables. Sweep and mop tile floors.
  • Spot clean stall walls and bathroom walls.
  • Public Health Clinic
    • Clean sinks and counters. Sweep and mop tile floors. Vacuum carpeting and empty garbage/recyclables including bio waste.
  • Entryway and Tile Hallway Cleaning
    • Clean glass doors and drinking fountains.
    • Spot clean walls.
    • Spot mop as needed.
  • Break Room (after 2pm)
    • Clean tables, sink, counter, outside of appliances, fill dispensers, and empty garbage/recyclables. Sweep and mop tile floors.
  • Lobby, Family Room & Conference Room Cleaning
    • 7 conference rooms {Conference Room A - G}.
    • 2 smaller public interview rooms.
    • Clean tables and furniture.
    • Spot clean walls.
    • Vacuum carpeting and empty garbage/recyclables.
  • Monday's Only
    • Supplies
      • Restock supplies in the janitor closet, sprinkler room, break room, and front desk./li>
      • Create list to order additional supplies.
      • Restock copier paper in various office areas.
  • Tuesday's Only
    • Vacuum
      • Vacuum carpeted hallways near private offices and conference rooms not in use.
  • Wednesday's Only
    • Garbage Collection.
    • 3-5 PM
      • Collect recyclable paper garbage cans from all staff offices and conference rooms and take the materials out to the parking lot dumpster. Garbage cans are to be set out by staff.
    • Thursday's Only
      • 3-5 PM (or later)
        • Mop Public Areas:
        • Mop the tiled hallways in the public areas surrounding conference rooms.
    • Additional Tasks
      • As Needed – Clean interior of Break Room refrigerators.
      • As Needed – Clean vending machines, door knobs, and light switch plates.
      • As Needed – Adjust thermostat temperature controls.
      • As Needed – Contact outside vendors for assistance with larger projects.


    Minimum Training and Experience:

    • High School diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training, or any combination and experience that provide knowledge, skills and abilities.
    • Ability to exert resilient effort in physically demanding work; including stooping and kneeling.
    • Ability to comfortably lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and staff both in person and in writing.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate decimals and fractions.
    • Ability to compare, count, differentiate, measure and/or sort data and information.
    • Current WI driver’s license and unlimited access to reliable transportation.

    All vacation requests must be submitted to the Administration & Building Operations Manager at least two weeks prior in order to ensure that backup Cleaning or Maintenance personnel can take care of the cleaning/janitorial duties during the requested time off.
