Part-Time Substance Recovery and Mental Health Wellness Navigator

Under the supervision of the Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) Supervisor, and direction of the Mental Health (MH) Supervisor, the Part-Time Substance Recovery and Mental Health Wellness Navigator will:

  • Increase availability of substance recovery and mental health services by collaborating with related agencies that provide preventative and non-crisis substance recovery and mental health services.

  • Improve the accessibility of substance recovery and mental health services by connecting community members to existing resources and overcoming barriers to services.

  • Improve acceptability of substance recovery and mental health services by improving the communities' understanding and willingness to seek needed services.

The Substance Recovery and Mental Health Wellness Navigator will be proficient in the five prevention domains as related to the field of alcoholism and other substance abuse prevention and in mental health treatment. The goal of the navigator is to improve availability, accessibility, and acceptability of substance recovery and mental health services.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of experience in the prevention field is desired.

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Wisconsin Prevention Specialist – In Training Certificate immediately, and obtain the Prevention Specialist Certificate within 42 months from the date of hire.

  • Evidence of successful completion of 40 hours of approved education, including 5 hours specific to ethics, in the following content areas:

    (a) Planning and evaluation.

    (b) Prevention education and service delivery.

    (c) Communication.

    (d) Community organization.

    (e) Public policy and environmental change.

    (f) Professional growth and responsibility, is required.

  • In evaluating candidates for this position, a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the duties of the position may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

Compensation and Benefits

Group 4/Grade 62/Non-Exempt – Starting Salary $20.09/hour

The wage for this position will depend on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
